Established in July 2017, the Oakland Renaissance Arts & Entertainment District builds on the town’s roots as a mecca for artists and arts events.
Governed by the Town of Oakland and comprised of 90 acres with a Maryland Priority Funding District (view the map), A&E District includes the present business corridor of the Town, allows various opportunities for growth and redevelopment, and encompasses art venues already in existence.
Murals reflecting the Town's rich history adorn the exterior walls of buildings, and the Garrett County Arts Council's Gallery Shop sells artwork created by more than 150 regional artists.
