Spring is a time for renewal. We clean our homes and plant our flowers as we plan to spend more time outdoors. Spring is also a good time for a personal renewal - from a relaxing massage, cleansing facial, new nail color, or even an all around new look -
Cobblestone Hair Studio is the place for you.
Cobblestone Hair Studio, located at 2778 Deep Creek Drive in McHenry, was opened three short years ago by Kathy Handyside at the location previously known as Cobblestone Alley Gift Shop. She remodeled the existing building and added a brand new space, creating the relaxing and modern shop it is today. As business steadily increased, she remodeled a second time, adding more pedicure and manicure stations, tanning beds, and a private space for waxing and facials. Kathy also has a Licensed Massage Therapist on staff to complete your spa experience.
Upon entering the salon, the first thing you notice is the quaint cobblestone walkway that gives the business its name. To the left you'll find the pedicure and manicure stations (three of each) featuring the latest technology and polishes by OPI, Gelish, China Glaze, and more.
To the right is the newest and most popular addition to the salon, two brand new Level 3 high-intensity tanning beds, which deliver a beautiful natural looking tan in only 12-minute increments...perfect to help you get an early start to your summer glow, and a huge variety of tanning lotions.
As you head down the cobblestone pathway, you’ll find an impressive display of Aveda products. Cobblestone is an Aveda Concept Salon, a feature that is unique to this area. Aveda is an environmentally-friendly company offering a wide array of natural products for skin, hair, and face. Founded in the late 1970s, only select salons are approved to use and carry Aveda products. “They are particular about who sells their products,” explains Kathy. “All of our stylists must take a required amount of initial training and continuing education each year.
Not only are Aveda products available for purchase in the salon, they are used for all the services offered at Cobblestone so you can experience them first hand by their knowledgeable staff. They have products specially designed for different needs - from thick to thinning hair to color treated hair, as well as various skin types, including those with hyper-sensitive skin. All of the manicure and pedicure services are a sensory experience with different oils for the clients needs.
Kathy also offers a nice selection of gift items, including local handmade jewelry, soaps, and pottery, as well as soy candles and other small gift items like doggie bandanas, women’s scarves, Pink Pewter headbands, even Leanin’ Tree cards…which along with a gift certificate from the Salon, make a great gift for everybody in your family.
In the back of the building, you’ll find the fully-equipped stations for each of their five stylists along with a relaxing lounge to enjoy wi-fi, coffee or Aveda’s exclusive tea between services or with a group of friends. You’ll relax and enjoy your time here especially since this is a “no cell phone” salon. When you walk in, Kathy asks that you unplug and enjoy your time relaxing.
Of course, May means prom, graduation, and the start of wedding season, and Kathy and her staff can help you look your best no matter what the occasion. From updos to facials, body waxing, and even make-up application (including airbrush makeup), you’ll be sure to look your best.
Cobblestone Hair Studio is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with other times by appointment.
