Goehringer’s Catering has been named a “2020 Best of Weddings” winner in the catering category by The Knot, a national wedding brand.
“We feel that this is a great assessment of our services,” owners John and Barb Goehringer said.
The honor was gained through reviews collected from clients and vendors the business works with.
John Goehringer started Goehringer’s Meats and Deli in Accident 34 years ago, and then began his catering venture through that business.
After his mother passed away, he ended up selling to Annie’s Kitchen 20 years ago, and then further pursued catering while working at another job.
“In 2000, Barb and I connected and between the two of us, we began to build up the catering business,” Goehringer said.
Since that time, the Goehringers stated that the business has “grown tremendously.”
“This past year was one of our best years yet,” Barb Goehringer said.
Some of the tallies from the year include 35 weddings, 305 catering jobs, 1,043 Facebook followers and 27,341 meals prepared. The couple also runs the food service for the Garrett College campus during the school’s sessions. This is the sixth year for that venture.
Future plans for the Goehringers include ramping up their wedding clientele and possible new venue options that would enable local organizations an option for fundraising.
Although they do have employees, the majority of work is done by the Goehringers to ensure the quality they like to maintain.
“We work diligently to be sure that one of us is at each and every event,” they said.
The couple has been married for 15 years, and between the two of them, the Goehringers have five children and six grandchildren whom they love to spend time with.
John Goehringer was raised in Allegany County, but often made trips to the family farm in Accident where they now reside. His wife was raised in the Baltimore/Carroll County area and moved to Garrett County in 1993.
“Our favorite part of this business is using our creative talents to serve and create displays for events,” the couple said. “We enjoy revisiting our repeat clients year after year, and meeting new clients who come to enjoy Garrett County. It is a beautiful place and we are happy to call this home. We are very thankful that we are able to operate a business here.”
Goehringer’s Catering is close to being full for the 2020 season already and is currently booking for 2021, as well.
