Informational, educational and job training services available for residents of Garrett County, Oakland, MD

 
The Western Maryland Consortium continues to offer funding for educational assistance and workforce opportunities for eligible persons in Garrett County, MD. Qualifying participants can receive assistance to pay for workforce training programs at Garrett College and other local colleges as well as receive employment services. The office assists with resumes, job searches, and mock interviews for the general public. Business services are available to local employers looking to hire in 2020, including Incumbent Worker training to upskill an employer’s current workforce and create backfill opportunities for new employees.
 
Those interested in WMC services including individuals and employers are encouraged to call the agency at 301-334-8136 for more information or to schedule an appointment.
 
Mary Keller, county office supervisor, states “We work closely with Garrett College’s Workforce Development department to assist eligible individuals in Garrett County in achieving their educational and workforce goals. We also work with local businesses to be a resource when they are looking to fill positions. We have valuable services for both individuals and for businesses in the county.”

The office is located at 14 North 8th Street in the Oakland Armory and Community Center, Oakland, MD. Office hours are 8:00am-3:30pm Monday through Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.
