The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the 53rd annual Autumn Glory Festival, sponsored by Patriot Automotive CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM: King of the 4WD, will be held as scheduled from Wednesday, October 7, 2020, to Sunday, October 11, 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Autumn Glory Festival will look a little different this year. After meeting with local officials, including the Town of Oakland and the Garrett County Health Department, the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce has elected to cancel this year’s Autumn Glory Grand Feature Parade originally scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2020.

In lieu of the parade, the Chamber invites local businesses and organizations to decorate Autumn-themed floats that will be placed in several locations throughout Garrett County on Saturday, October 10. The public can visit each float location between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. that day and vote for their favorite. Cash prizes will be awarded to the three floats with the most votes:  $1,500 will be awarded for first place, $1,000 for second place and $500 for third place. Details about float locations and voting on the floats will be available at visitdeepcreek.com at a later date. If you are interested in entering a float in the Autumn Glory Float Contest, please email sarah@garrettchamber.com with your company/organization name and approximate float size being entered by no later than August 17, 2020.

The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce also plans to host our annual Autumn Glory Craft & Gift Sale on Saturday, October 10, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 11, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Garrett County Fairgrounds. Capacity limitations, face covering requirements and prohibition of food concessions and food samples will be in effect.

The Mountain Maryland Gateway to the West Heritage Area, a program of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, will once again offer their annual Turkey Trail, sponsored by The Garrett County Republican, which celebrates the event’s roots by promoting area turkey dinners served in our region. The Heritage Area will also have two new Fall Foliage Tours, sponsored by Ledo Pizza, Pasta & Pub, highlighting some of the area’s most scenic spots to view our stunning Autumn leaves.

If you are planning to host an Autumn Glory event for this year’s Festival, you can promote it in the Chamber’s official 53rd annual Autumn Glory Festival Brochure. 15,000 brochures are printed and will be available by Labor Day in racks around Garrett County, at the Visitors Center in McHenry, at the Youghiogheny Overlook Welcome Center along Interstate 68, at Chamber member businesses, distribution centers, via visitor request and more. The cost to advertise is $72 per 250 character text entry, per day, $90 per 250 character colored text entry, per day and $120 per photo and 250 character colored text entry, per day. To purchase a listing in the brochure, please complete the brochure listing form and send it back by August 19, 2020. Forms can be mailed to Sarah Duck at Garrett County Chamber of Commerce 15 Visitors Center Drive McHenry, MD 21541, sent via fax at (301) 334-8073 or emailed to sarah@garrettchamber.com by August 19, 2020.
