Ribbon Cutting Held for The Root Cafe

On Friday, October 27, the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce partnered with the Garrett County Department of Business Development to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of
The Root Cafe in Friendsville.
Connor Norman, Business Development Specialist and Chair of the Garrett County Diplomats, led the ceremony. Local dignitaries in attendance include County Commissioner Larry Tichnell, Patty Manown Mash from the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and Chamber Interim President Andrew Fike.
Attendees congratulated proprietors Mike and Sandy Robinson and expressed the positive impact they believe it will have on the town of Friendsville.
Connor Norman read a Senatorial Citation from Senator Chris Van Hollen’s office.
Mike and Sandy spoke about the history of the building, inspiration for the menu, and how the profits from the Café go into Anchor Church’s humanitarian programs.
Garrett County Diplomats Patty Manown Mash and Connor Norman assisted in the official ribbon cutting and presented Mike and Sandy with a First Dollar of Profit certificate.

The locally-sourced menu offers a variety of drinks, breakfast, and lunch options. Eat-in or take-out! Conveniently located off I-68, just off First Avenue in Friendsville, next to Anchor Church and a short walk from the Kendall Trail.
