A technology superhighway lies beneath our country roads, thanks to 45 miles of wireless broadband fiber laid by the One Maryland Broadband Network. A $500,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Council will allow us to extend the fiber an additional 4.5 miles. This broadband development project underway delivers opportunities at astonishing speeds. It allows us enjoy stronger jobs, seamless commerce, and skyrocketing educational achievement.
From teleworking to telemedicine, broadband reshapes how we live, from our commutes to our rates of hospitalization. Broadband heightens the STEM offerings within our public schools, and on the Garrett College campus. Real-time teleconferencing improves job training and the resources available for distance learning.
